His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia, officially inaugurated the Brikama Water Storage Tank on Wednesday 14th October 2026 — marking a significant milestone in improving water infrastructure in Brikama and strengthening service delivery for the surrounding communities.
The ceremony began with the President cutting the ceremonial ribbon before activating the water hydrant, marking the operational launch of the facility. The inauguration was attended by government officials, development partners, NAWEC Management and staff, local authorities, and members of the public.
Funded by the World Bank Group through the Gambia Electricity Restoration and Modernization Project (GERMP) and implemented by NAWEC, the project is designed to strengthen water storage capacity and improve water supply services for the people of Brikama. The ceremony concluded following the inauguration activities, marking the successful commissioning of the new facility.

The Brikama Water Storage Tank is funded by the World Bank Group through the Gambia Electricity Restoration and Modernization Project (GERMP) and implemented by NAWEC.
