NAWEC, established under the Companies Act, is a vital Public Enterprise Company dedicated to providing essential Water, Electricity, and Sewerage services. Energy profoundly impacts every facet of our socio-economic life, playing a crucial role in our nation’s economic, social, and political development. The inadequate supply of energy restricts socio-economic activities, limits economic growth, and adversely affects the quality of life. Improvements in living standards—manifested through increased food production, industrial output, efficient transportation, adequate shelter, healthcare, and other human services—all necessitate increased energy consumption. Consequently, our future energy requirements will continue to grow in tandem with rising living standards, industrialization, and a host of other socio-economic factors.
It is pertinent to note that the impact of energy transcends national boundaries; energy supply can even be an instrument of foreign policy in promoting international cooperation and development.
To effectively fulfill this critical mandate, NAWEC is overseen by a Board of Directors, appointed by the relevant Ministry. This Board provides strategic guidance and ensures the company operates in line with national objectives. Directly reporting to the Board is Group Internal Audit, maintaining stringent oversight on financial integrity and operational efficiency.
The day-to-day operations and strategic execution are managed by the executive leadership, comprising the Group Managing Director NAWEC and the Deputy Group Managing Director. Under their leadership, the company is structured into key divisions to manage its diverse responsibilities:
- COO Electricity: Dedicated to ensuring the reliable generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity across the nation.
- COO Water & Sewerage: Responsible for the efficient provision of safe drinking water and effective management of sewerage systems.
- Group Customer Services Director: Focused on delivering excellent service, responding to customer needs, and enhancing stakeholder satisfaction.
- Group Finance Director: Manages the financial health and sustainability of all NAWEC’s operations.
- Group Human Resources Director: Oversees human capital development, administrative functions, and fosters a productive work environment.
- Group Projects & Planning Director: Drives strategic projects and long-term planning to meet future energy and utility demands.
- Group Corporate Services Director: Provides essential support services across the organization, ensuring smooth operations and corporate governance.
This robust organizational structure allows NAWEC to strategically manage its diverse functions, address the nation’s growing energy and utility needs, and contribute significantly to the socio-economic development and improved quality of life for all citizens.
