GIRAV Project Coordinator Provides Project Updates to NAWEC Management

The GIRAV Project Coordinator, Mr Mamour M. Jagne, today Thursday 20 August 2026 paid a courtesy call on NAWEC Management to provide updates on the implementation of GIRAV-supported initiatives, including the procurement of Smart Meters for NAWEC.
During the meeting, Mr Jagne briefed Management on the progress of the Smart Water Metering Project in Bansang, Janjangbureh, and Basse, and informed them of the imminent arrival of a project consultant to support implementation efforts.
Managing Director Mr Gallo Saidy welcomed the update and emphasized the need to ensure the sustainability of project interventions. He also highlighted the importance of exploring support for communities in Foni Sibanor, where water quality remains a challenge due to high iron content.

Mr Jagne, accompanied by Mr Omar Sanneh (COOW) and Mr Mbakeh Jaiteh, commended Mr Jaiteh for his dedication and effective coordination of project activities. The Deputy Managing Director proposed a joint NAWEC-GIRAV visit to project sites in September 2026 to review progress and strengthen collaboration.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between NAWEC and GIRAV in advancing sustainable water supply solutions and improving service delivery across The Gambia. A group photograph was taken at the conclusion of the meeting.

Smart Metering Progress Update
Mr Jagne briefed NAWEC Management on the progress of the Smart Water Metering Project in Bansang, Janjangbureh, and Basse, and confirmed the imminent arrival of a project consultant.
