Public Notice – 30 kV Line Laminkoto/Diabugu RAP (Re-Settlement Action Plan) Census

Public Notice – 30 kV Line Laminkoto/Diabugu RAP (Re-Settlement Action Plan) Census

The Government of The Gambia (GOTG), with financing from the European Investment Bank and the World Bank’s Gambia Electricity Restoration and Modernization Project (GERMP), intends to construct a Medium Voltage 30 kV Transmission and Distribution line from Laminkoto to Diabugu with branches to electrify satellite communities like the branch from Kaleng Jawbeh to Bush Town.

A survey/census will be conducted to identify all the affected persons along those corridors between Saturday, 19th of September to Friday 25th of September 2020. The cut-off date to be included in the census will be on Friday,25th September 2020.

The T&D line spans the Districts of Sami in the Central River Region (CRR) and Sandu in the Upper River Region (URR). The proposed route of the transmission and distribution line is along the Laminkoto-Passamas road corridor in the northern bank of The Gambia, terminating in Diabugu Batapa.

The trajectory of the line will follow the road alignment, connecting the intermediate communities between Laminkoto and Diabugu. Additionally, T-offs (branches) will be created where necessary, and lines will be constructed to connect communities located away from the main road alignment. Some of the lines branching off from the main road would run through farmlands to supply the communities with both Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) electricity. A total of 46 communities would be connected along this transmission corridor.

All those whose land(s) will be affected by the Project (especially, those living within the below cited 46 affected communities) are requested to contact NAWEC Project Management Unit (PMU) as soon as possible.

The Alkalos of these areas will inform the Project Affected Persons of the days they are supposed to meet with the consultant surveyors.

The team of consultants will be on-site from Saturday 19 to Friday 25 of September 2020. Please bring all documentation proving ownership or use of this land to the meeting with the surveyors.

Claimants who move into this land on or after September 25 will not be counted in the census.
