PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
Following the beginning of the rains with the ageing network infrastructure, and the subsequence loss of generating capacity within the GBA, NAWEC regrets to inform its customers that they will experience some power outages during the period. In the M2 substation, two of the three lines feeding Banjul developed an underground fault that warrants long outages and an extensive load shedding in the city. Similarly, the West Coast Region line lost recently due to a damaged MV pole knocked by a truck affecting the entire Kombo East and the Fonis. In addition series of faults have been encountered on the 11kv network within Salagi, Brusubi, Sinchu Alhagie and the coastal line. Also two gen sets (Kotu and Brikama 1) were withdrawn from operations due to mainly a delay in the delivery of spare parts. Having lost twelve (12) MW of the available capacity coupled with the network force outages and the load shedding, customers will experience unexpected downtime while NAWEC Management is working vigorously to solve these problems as soon as possible.
