{"id":661,"date":"2020-10-08T16:02:14","date_gmt":"2020-10-08T16:02:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nawec.gm\/?p=661"},"modified":"2020-12-09T09:38:05","modified_gmt":"2020-12-09T09:38:05","slug":"press-release-design-and-build-of-transmission-infrastructure-between-brikama-and-jabang-by-world-bank-under-the-germp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nawec.gm\/?p=661","title":{"rendered":"PRESS RELEASE &#8211; Design and Build of Transmission Infrastructure between Brikama and Jabang by World Bank under the GERMP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>PRESS RELEASE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following last week\u2019s radio interview of The Hon.\u00a0Minister of information with reference to\u00a0some media\u00a0publications regarding the\u00a0Notification of Intention\u00a0to\u00a0Award the\u00a0contract for the\u00a0Design and Build of Transmission Infrastructure between Brikama and\u00a0Jabang.<\/p>\n<p>NAWEC would like to inform the\u00a0general public\u00a0that this particular activity is financed by World Bank under The Gambia Electricity Restoration and Modernization Project (GERMP)\u00a0which National Water and Electricity Company Limited is the implementing Agency.<\/p>\n<p>This Project (GERMP)\u00a0is\u00a0being implemented by\u00a0the Project\u00a0Implementation\u00a0Unit\u00a0within NAWEC.<\/p>\n<p>NAWEC hereby notifies the public that the procurement process for this activity was two-stage which involves Prequalification\/Initial Selection and then Request for Bids. The World Bank\u2019s role is to ensure the process for World Bank Financed activities is carried out in line with World Bank Procurement Guidelines. The World Bank does not take part in the procurement process but instead provides \u201cNo Objections\u201d after receiving documentation of the completion of key stages which for large contracts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The prequalification was done\u00a0by an Evaluation Committee which members comprise of NAWEC\u2019s Technical Team, PIU, International Procurement Consultant and Consultant who did the feasibility study of the transmission infrastructures line\u00a0and six (6) Applicants were shortlisted based on merits as per NAWEC\u2019s requirements.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>RFB was issued out to the shortlisted Bidders and five of them submitted their bids which were evaluated\u00a0by the same Evaluation Committee. The Bid Evaluation Report was approved by the Bank and NAWEC issued out Notification of Intention to Award to all the five (5) Bidders. There is a Standstill period of 10\u00a0business days from the date of transmission of the Notification letter to allow bidders request for debriefing and complains.
