NAWEC is pleased to invite suitably qualified persons to submit applications for the vacant position of Health, Safety & Environment Officer<\/strong>.<\/strong> We are looking for a dynamic, forward looking and performance driven professional who has a strong understanding of health, safety and evironmental measures.<\/p>\n

The successful candidate could look forward to joining a team of highly dedicated and competent group of employees who are currently playing a critical role in reinforcing a culture of safety and compliance within NAWEC.<\/p>\n

Position<\/strong><\/td>\nHealth, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Role Summary<\/strong><\/td>\nResponsible for implimenting all health,safety and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines of NAWEC. Ensuring a safe work environment for employees, and reducing the impact of operations on the people and the\u00a0 environment.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Reporting Relationships<\/strong><\/td>\nHSE Manager<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/td>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Support the implimentation of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ensure employees and contractors complies with all applicable local and relevant international HSE standards.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Conduct regular health and safety inspections in various workplaces with proper reporting.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Liaise with HR Department and arrange HSE inductions for newly employed staff.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ensure office documentations are well organised and secured at all times.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ensure office documentation such as reporting forms are available to all staff through departmental safety representatives at all time.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Participate in accident reporting and investigation activities.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Take part in departmental safety awareness activities such as Tool Box Talks and staff briefings.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Coordinate emergency response exercises, including evacuation procedures, fire safety protocols, and first similations.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Take care of all safety equipment and devices including coorinating annual fire extinguisher preventive maintenance program.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ensure first aid equipment are in place and adequatelt maintained or replinished when required.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing regulations that may affect NAWEC\u2019s HSE performance.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ensure preventive maintenance of safety equipment and that safe systems of work are adheared to in the workplace.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keep a sound interest in general health and safety enforcement.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Participate in environmental sustainability initiatives relevant to the work of NAWEC.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Act on any other directives from senior management.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Requirements and Qualifications<\/strong><\/td>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BSc in Occupational Health and Safety Management or a related science field such as Public and Environmental Health or Engineering<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5 years\u2019 experience in Workplace Health, Safety & Environment Management<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety Management or equivalent would be an added advantage.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Salary Grade <\/strong><\/td>\nGrade D of the NAWEC integrated Pay Scale<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Communication <\/strong><\/td>\nBe an excellent communicator.Ability to conduct safety inductions ,trainings and toolbox talks<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Confidentiality <\/strong><\/td>\nConsciousness of confidentiality issues in relation to Workplcae Health, Safety & Environment Management<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Ethics<\/strong><\/td>\nHigh sense of discipline towards work and Good Team Spirit<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
