Role Summary | The Senior Manager, Health, Safety, and Environment will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance within the organization. This individual will develop, implement, and maintain policies, programs, and procedures to ensure a safe and environmentally responsible workplace, while also fostering a culture of continuous improvement in HSE practices. |
Reporting Relationships | Reports directly to Group Director Corporate Services but has strong links with Chief Operating Officer Electricity and Chief Operating Officer, Water & Sewerage especially their health & safety and environment officials. |
Duties and Responsibilities | In charge of developing, maintaining, and periodically reviewing NAWEC’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policy to ensure alignment with legislative requirements, regulations, and global best practices.
Translates the policy into operational procedures and practices throughout the organization, encompassing risk assessment, reporting protocols, auditing processes, and emergency procedures, with a keen focus on promoting sustainability. Manage the HSE budget, including forecasting, planning, and cost control measures, to ensure efficient allocation of resources. Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on HSE-related matters, fostering positive relationships and promoting a collaborative approach to HSE management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HSE considerations into all aspects of operations, including project planning, design, construction, and maintenance. Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the HSE team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and environmental stewardship among employees and contractors. Develops strategies and plans around minimising NAWEC’s impact on the environment including waste management, recycling, pollution reduction and prevention. Builds collaborative relationships, across NAWEC and shares best practice and learnings to help improve the HSE function. Develop and deliver comprehensive HSE training programs to educate employees, contractors, and other stakeholders on safe work practices, environmental compliance, and emergency response procedures. Develops appropriate HSE structures across the organisation including roles and responsibilities. Will act as NAWEC’s main point of contact in liaising with the competent authorities with respect to issue resolution.
Mobilizes support for Health, Safety & Environment policies and practices through communications and persuasion.
Develops annual plan for Corporate HSE and develops KPI’s driven by best international standards and institutes systematic reporting.

Requirements and Qualifications | Third level qualification with extensive experience in an industry of comparable scale and scope to NAWEC .
Having expertise in Health and Safety or Environmental affairs would be highly beneficial. |
